Every year (except 2020 &2021-Covid cancellations) Parksville has hosted the Sandcastle competitions at the local citypark & beach. The competitors come from all over and do the build in one week. The judging is done and the display remains in place until the end of August - at which point it is bulldozed into flat ground adjacent to the Kiddies playground.
