Arlie Beach
If I said this place is a back packer - surfer paradise, I'd be understating the obvious. Arlie Beach is another of those small places (pop. less than 1000) that has a huge reputation among the younger touristy types.br/We had to anchor out as the port facilities are geared mostly to the small charter fishing boat trade or the catamarans that run tourists out to the Great Barrier Reef. Arlie is the main starting point if you want to go diving the reef. We used the ships tenders to come and go.br/There is a craft market, a main street with a few shops and ut door coffee places, a number of back-packer hostels and a lovely beach bordering the town. br/Note: At times during the year the warnings on the beach billboards should be taken seriously. There are a number of things here (not including your travelling companion) that will kill you if you're not careful.br/All in all, a nice place to visit ..... but I'm not sure I'd want to live here for any length of time.
