Puerto Madryn on the Atlantic coast of Argentina was originally settled in 1865 by a group of Welsh immigrants - the promise of free land in the new world being hard to resist. They have maintained their traditions and language in the local area ever since.
Punta Tombo, just south of Puerto Madryn is the home of one of the largest Magellan Penguin colonies in South America. Researchers estimate the colony at just under 2 million birds.
